VIRTUAL MOBILITY

Description of the activity

The LTTA were held in Turkey in November 2020 under the leadership of Polatlı TOBB Science High School.
The activities in this event were multiple, varied, connected to the theme of the project and very interesting. There were workshops, demonstration, presentations, brainstorming, materials development, methods of work and small group students using problem solving, critical thinking, and the collaboration.
During the virtual mobility, project’s activities were as following:
Monday
- The headteacher of the school and the coordinator of the project made the presentation of the hosting participants and of the guests. All the teams presented materials about their countries and cultures. Romanian students presented online a power point material about their school and city, Bucharest and Romanian educational system.
It was presented below the harms of fossil fuels and the importance of renewable energy, by the hosting project team.
Tuesday:
 - Romanian students from 8A, 8B and 8C classes followed online the Turkish introduction of STEM method to the participating teachers under the guidance of the host school's physics teacher, virtualization in the E-Twinning portal. After the activity has ended, a group of 5 Romanian students together with the host and guests students had an online conversation that lasted 20 minutes and had a multiple role: first of all, some knowledge about the topic of the meeting was fixed, the students improved their communication skills in English and this discussion was a feedback of activity and had a role in evaluation. They talk about the potential and uses of geothermal resources in each country, school's work on "Zero Waste", the about the importance of recycling plastic, metal, glass and the use of household waste for agriculture.
Wednesday:
- Romanian students from 7a, 7B and 7C participated at the academic seminar on geothermal energy. After that, they design recycled products from waste materials. Romanian students presented some of their materials made by recycled materials – plastic bottles, bottle caps, plastic bags and paper rolls.
In the end of this event, the Turkish team presented their food culture, folk dances and songs.
Thursday:
 - students prepared a 3-D geothermal energy map of partner countries in mixed groups with STEM approach and virtualize the study in the eTwinning portal for project partners. Romanian teams participated online with students from 7 and 8 grade classes.
Friday:
- The participants prepared of digital panels and made an international exhibition. Romanian students sent their panel online to the hosting school that presented together with the others. Romanian students presented a short movie about a mini-exhibition made especially for this meeting, by the pupils from the 6D class, together with the teachers Mattuzzi Emanuela and Tufaru Roxana.

In the end of the meeting, there was an evaluation session – students and teachers complete questionnaires and a small report.

The Romanian students at this virtual mobility have enriched their knowledge about concrete applications about global warming and environmental pollution, about the damage to the environment fossil fuels and the necessity of the renewable energy. They also learned about STEM method 3-dimensional map of geothermal energy.

Romanian students and teachers participant at this event increased their English language skills by interacting with groups in different countries adapt to the development of team work-multi-culturalism embrace; it was aimed to socialize and increase their self-confidence. In addition, STEM was introduced with this LTT, teachers are mentored biology course environmental pollution subject handled with these activities. The experience gained in these activities, the teaching materials developed and the presentations will be added to the lesson plans; continuity will be ensured by the use of the lessons by the teachers of the partner schools.

Although this week was quite tiring for me, it was also a pleasant and productive week because I had the opportunity to develop myself, and I also met great people. Most of the guest students were friendly and amiable. I learned many things about their country and their culture. We had so many opportunities to talk with them, especially through after-school meetings. Apart from that, we learned many things about renewable energy through presentations made, the facilities visited and the academician who came to our school. I'm really proud of myself because of that I had the chance to deal with guest students. I hope that I will represent Turkey will represent turkey in these countries a few months later. This project was an amazing opportunity for me. We met new friends and with them, sometimes on trips and sometimes at the events, we had a great time. We learned about renewable energies, geothermal energy, and usages of it. And we tried to make a lamp to work with steam power and build the best tower with the least materials in STEM activities. Other than those, we had trips to Ankara, Eskişehir, and Nevşehir to show them our culture and stuff. It was all so fun to do. Burak YILMAZ

Erasmus+ is a project that I will proudly talk about when people ask about my high school life.  We have worked very hard since the beginning of the project and we created very good memories together.  We created very good relations with Turks and my peers from different nationalities.  We learned about cultures and our perspective changed.  We also became conscious about "renewable energy", which is the aim of the project.  With my own group "Zero Waste", we have seen that the things we throw away without thinking can be recreated with inspiration and handcraft.  Thanks to everyone who gave me these opportunities in the project. Günsu MICIK

This project was amazing. Meeting with people from another country in real life was amazing. I learned their culture, their education systems and some words from their language. Talking and hanging out with them was so fun. I also learned lots of things about renewable energy sources and especially geothermal energy. I'm so excited to join next year! İrem Naz AYTAR

It's been an amazing week, as I expected.  I made very good friends.  I realized that many of my worries about foreign languages were unnecessary.  I was informed about where and how geothermal energy is used.  I learned about renewable energy types.  It has been a rewarding week in every way. Zeycan Odabaşı

On the first day of school, renewable energy, geothermal energy and school promotion presentations were made. We toured the biogas plant and solar panels. The dinner event on Wednesday was fun but also noisy. During our trip on Thursday, we learned about fairy chimneys and underground cities. The food we ate was also very good. We said goodbye to our foreign friends on Friday. It was a full week for me. I am happy to get to know my foreign friends and spend time with them. Elifnur Kadak

Erasmus+ project was a real milestone for me. I learned so many things about other countries, cultures, English language. Their different thoughts made my brain freer and preconception free. At the meeting nights i realized that i broke my walls while speaking with foreign friends. Now i am much more comfortable while speaking. Another the most important characteristic that Erasmus+ gave me is group working. We were nearly 12 people. It’s really hard to keep up with group friends but with patience and understanding we have got the better of. I am really proud of my group; we did everything that we can do. Finally, I want to talk about academic benefits. We made presentation about renewable energy and visited two power plants near Polatli. We asked questions to the engineers who are working in the power plant. Then we made a STEM study at school. In the last day of the project, we made zero waste presentation and workshop! We talked about what we can do from home wastes. My group friends prepared a bunch of materials that are made from wastes. All and all i have lots of funny and didactic stories that i am going to tell my friends and family. Erasmus+ was the best project i have ever attended. Eren Berk SAC

IMPRESSIONS OF THE ROMANIAN STUDENTS

Our virtual meeting with students and teachers from the schools’ partners was very interesting. Virtual Exchange uses the broad reach and scope of new media technologies to bring geographically distant people together - we were impressed by the activities of the meeting. Thanks to the interactive lessons given by the teachers from Turkey, we felt as if we were there too, in school. They always asked us if it sounded good, if we understood, what do we think about the activities and we answered them and told them our impressions. We liked the Turkish school very much, the STEAM activity made in Turkish school, and we wish to practice it in February with our teachers. We were also impressed by the presentations of the partners’ schools, by the traditional dances and costumes, by the perfect communication in English language of all the students. Being the first time that we experienced the virtual mobility, we understand better the way that Erasmus+ virtual projects are in progress.

We wait for the next meeting when we will meet together, and we will have the opportunity to share our experiences. (Headteacher, Mrs. Stoenescu Mihaela and the students Vilcu Filip, Tanase Alexandru, Diaconescu Mara, Petrea Corina, Greu Alexandra, Tolbaru Sofia, Samoila Maria, Costinea Maria and Xu Le Cheng)
